Hi, I'm Carolyn (she/her), a Reg. Clinical Counsellor, owner founder of Obsidian Counselling for Mental Health Well-Being, and a Self identifying Queer cis human.
I created Obsidian with you and our LGBTQA+ communities in mind, with our unique and shared but individual experiences of existing in a world that isn't always tailored toward us, and to break down the barriers for our communities often have in finding and accessing something more than just 'gay friendly' or 'LGBTQA+ friendly'.
I wanted to offer counselling and therapy that are queer (LGBTQA+) informed, affirming, accepting, inclusive, holistic, strengths based, person centred and non-medicalising to support our mental health well-being.
I hope to offer you a place that is welcoming, and when you're ready, safe to be your authentic Self. Recognising and supporting important times in our lives that are unique to us as LGBTQA+ individuals such as, questioning (no matter our age), concealing our identity in all or some parts of our lives, ready to 'Invite In' others to our diverse LGBTQA+SB identity, just to name a few.
A space that also recognises and acknowledges the impacts that living in a society with cisgender heterosexual and monogamous norms may have on our mental well-being, and connection to Self and others.
My passion and niche focus is supporting the mental wellbeing of our Gender Sexual-Orientation Diverse (LGBTQA+) Communities through both professional counselling with individuals, but also through Queer Informed Practice Consultation with Allied Mental Health professionals.

A note about the acronym: I utilise LGBTQA+ as a well recognised acronym amongst society, our communities, and for SEO to support people finding my website and the support they may need. I acknowledge there are many more diverse identities within the Gender Sexual Orientation Diverse communities and celebrate all. I also support the Intersex communities, and acknowledge to non-inclusion of the 'I' for Intersex within the acronym and guide those needing more specialised support to those services.

Fully Online, across Australia

Appointments available Saturday's between 8am and 2pm.
No added fees for weekend appointments

Queer (LGBTQA+SB) informed practice training and consultancy for allied mental health practitioners to upskill their knowledge of the LGBTQA+ communities to support breaking down the barriers they often face in accessing services and to ensure future generations don't need to experience the same discrimination and stigma those who came before have.

"Obsidian is a volcanic glass, born of fire, using strength & resilience to form a beautiful crystal, which to me is reflective of an LGBTQA+SB individuals discovery of Authentic Self. Obsidian's other properties include Protection, Grounding, Clarification, Growth, Acceptance, & Healing. Carolyn
#Lets Chat at Obsidian
At Obsidian we do not share reviews received from clients on our website or socials as we believe this potentially breaches the privacy and confidentiality of our clients, current and former, which raises ethical concerns.
Whilst we acknowledge that many people choose services based on reviews or star ratings, the counselling and therapeutic process is personal, unique and subjective, and one persons experience cannot be compared to another. Carolyn recognises she will be the right Counsellor for some, but not others, and that's okay.
Depending on someone's experience and outcome from counselling and therapy, a positive or negative review may mean you miss finding the right Counsellor for you.
Thank-you for your understanding
